MODESTO Last month, consumers Marisa E., Jason B., and Thelma C. attended a Hawaiian Luau at the Howard Training Center. Accompanying the consumers were Supported Living staff; Darren M. and Christina C. They all sported Island attire and had a great time. In the first part of July, Modesto staff (Claudia, Jan, Chris, and Philip) and guests went for a limo lunch ride to Tony Roma's Restaurant that was provided by a winning from a local radio station. Good eats and a fun ride. Congratulations to Supported Living staff Christina O. She was married in Las Vegas on “The Lucky” 07/07/07. With that date there will be no excuses for forgetting their anniversary. Modesto Office Manager Carole U. and her husband went to Italy the first part of July and cruised for 7 days, stopping at 7 ports. Their favorite stop was Dubrovnik, Croatia; because it was so beautiful. Pictured are Carole and Jim at the Ruins in Pompeii. Todd brings a wide range of public policy and political experience to his new role on the Housing Alliance board. Previously, Todd worked as a senior policy aide for San Diego County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, specializing in budget and finance, arts and culture, and community outreach, and as a legislative aide in the office of Senator Jim Battin. After a stint in the US Marine Corps, Todd obtained a BA degree in government and journalism at CSU Sacramento. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree at SDSU in political science. Merced would like to thank Phillip Henry for accommodat- ing his schedule to meet their schedule. We could not have done it with out him! Merced consumers had a carwash fundraiser and would like to thank Clara Thornton, Sean's Mom, for all her time and effort at the car wash. ~FRESNO~ ~FRESNO~~FRESNO~~~FRESNO~FRESNO~ Hello Catalysts Family! Our Fresno office has moved! All went well except for a few glitches ( for instance, internet and voicemails not working properly). The month of July was so busy for many of our staff and consumers, we had vaca- tions, camping trips and a plethora of fun summer events. Don Polman a SLS Consumer won second place in a Taek- wondo Competition at Break the Barriers here in Fresno! Way to Go Don!!!!! We would like to welcome a new Catalyst staff, Gail Leal who is an ILS consumer, will be providing janitorial services for our Fresno Office! August is here and everyone is looking forward to the Talent Show that will be happening on August 8th at Ted C. Wills, our very own Jona- thon Hamlin (ILS consumer) will be performing a song on the drums. He has been practicing everyday and everyone will be there to cheer him on for the Big Show! Until next time wonderful people...have a great August!! ~COALINGA~ ~COALINGA~~COALINGA~~~COALINGA~COALINGA~ The month of July was filled with fun for the Coalinga Office. Consumers were able to go to the Ringling Brothers Cir- cus, have a birthday luncheon for Melissa F, and they also spent a day at the swap meet and the Mall. Consumers were very happy and enjoyed themselves very much. Besides this they also had water fights at the park. They really enjoyed themselves and liked the fact that the water gave some relief from the heat. ~SAN DIEGO~ ~SANDIEGO~~SANDIEGO~~~SANDIEGO~SANDIEGO~ Major changes for the San Diego Community Catalysts. Not only did we grow out of our office, we split into two beauti- ful offices. One in San Diego, and one in North County. Both are closer to their respective Regional Center. With this move we believe our presence will be better felt in both areas and more referrals will come our way. We will be hosting an open house for both offices and invite everyone to come visit, once we get settled in. Community Catalysts says a sad farewell to Employment Specialist January and SL Case Manager Angela Pagan. Can- dace will be switching from SE Case Manager to SL Case Manager. Welcome to our new SE team members, Ron, Kasey and Inna. Our consumers recently met for a fund raiser at Carl's Jr to plan their upcoming activities. We will be having a beach party in Aug., Padres game in Sept. and our big overnight trip to Las Vegas sometime in Oct or Nov. It seems we get jobs in groups. Mike started his new job at Target and Adrian is now working at Food 4 Less. Congratulation to both of you and to our Employment Coordinators Bettina and January for helping with the Job Development and finding these placements. Pet of the Month After moving into a house with a yard 3 years ago, SE Case Manger, Teri and her family decided it was time to get a large dog. Everyone visited multiple Humane Societies and viewed many dogs. Teri did not choose Pounder, he chose her. While visiting the kennels, Pounder was the one who followed her around and when she bent down to pet the puppies, Pounder sat on her lap. That was the indicator that Pounder believed he was the perfect dog for her. And she agrees....but at 85 lbs he can only sit on you so long before your legs go numb. When Teri tries to get him to move, he looks at her like he is saying "What, this is where I should be." Now how can you argue with that look! ~UKIAH~ ~UKIAH~~KIAH~~U~UKIAH~UKIAH~ Several of our consumers and staff have been enjoying the concerts in the park held in Ukiah and Lakeport. Some have also been attending the Moonlight Movie Madness event in the Alex Thomas Plaza. On the 27th a small group went to see Grease in the Plaza. Everyone had a great time watching the movie, snacking, and socializing. Diana D. at the Plum House had a Birthday Party on the 22nd . She enjoyed chocolate cake and pizza with her staff and roommates. Also, on the 27th Paul R. had a Birthday Party. Paul and a group of friends went bowling, and then back to Paul’s for a spaghetti dinner followed by cake. David S. and Darryl. C. attended a performance in the park by the San Francisco Mime Troop. They enjoyed the slapstick antics and political satire. They laughed a lot. .
